The recurring constraint
Modern databases and applications could deliver meaningful innovation, but the current operational data they needed remained locked inside production systems. Making that data safely available required custom integration work, infrastructure, and ongoing operational coordination.

Early validation
An early prototype was tested inside MongoDB through an internal hackathon and reviewed by customer-facing teams. The response confirmed that the problem was recognizable, recurring, and important before the implementation was mature.

The TapData chapter
TapData turned that recurring problem into a production data platform built around log-based CDC and operational data delivery.
That chapter accumulated connector knowledge, production edge cases, tests, customer issues, and operating lessons from real enterprise environments.

Tapstate
Tapstate is a complete rewrite informed by that production history. It carries the knowledge forward while rebuilding the product around Capture, Transform, and Serve as one focused platform for live operational state.
